GreenStone Farm Credit Services is seeking an Associate Loan Officer who is interested in building a career in agricultural lending and customer relationship management.
This is an entry-level lending position designed to develop future Agricultural Loan Officers. You will gain hands-on experience across customer relationships, sales, credit, financial analysis, loan origination and portfolio servicing while working alongside experienced Financial Services Officers, Credit Analysts and other GreenStone employees.
We are looking for someone who brings curiosity, sound judgment, accountability, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in learning how to support agricultural customers and communities.
This Wisconsin-based Associate Loan Officer opportunity includes development experiences across Sales and Credit. Through a combination of formal learning, coaching, practical application and increasing responsibility, you will build an understanding of the full lending process, from identifying customer needs and gathering financial information through credit analysis, loan decisions and ongoing relationship management.
What You Will Do
Develop customer relationships and sales skills
- Work alongside experienced Loan Officers to understand customer needs, gather financial information and identify appropriate solutions.
- Participate in customer calls and support business development, sales and marketing activities.
- Build knowledge of agricultural finance, market conditions and GreenStone’s products and services.
Build lending and credit capability
- Assist with gathering financial information, analyzing loan requests and preparing supporting documentation.
- Develop experience with balance sheets, financial trends, ratios, collateral and agricultural credit analysis.
- Learn GreenStone’s lending systems, underwriting standards and loan processes while partnering with experienced Sales and Credit professionals.
Engage with the agricultural community
- Participate in agricultural, industry and community events.
- Build relationships and expand your understanding of regional agriculture and the customers GreenStone serves.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, finance or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Relevant experience may come from employment, internships, education, agricultural involvement, customer service, sales, financial services, community activities or other experiences that demonstrate transferable capability.
- Previous lending experience is not required.
- An interest in agriculture, agricultural business, finance, lending or customer service is important.
- Ability to learn and use Microsoft Office and other business applications.
- Ability to travel 50% or more, which may include overnight travel.
