We're seeking a dynamic Vice President of Human Resources to help shape and drive GreenStone’s people strategy. This is a hands-on, strategic role that requires a leader who can operate at both a strategic and operational level. The qualified candidate will guide and coach a talented HR team to achieve organizational results and provide strategic direction on department initiatives, driving consistency within the business. This position will champion a people-first culture, overseeing employee relations, HR Compliance, performance management, HRIS and payroll, and total rewards. This position requires a strong leader with exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with a required 3 days in the East Lansing, MI office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence: Lead HR operations, ensuring financial viability and success of the team. Develop and track KPIs linking HR outcomes to business objectives, ensuring that workforce strategies directly contribute to operational performance.
- Policy Development: Drive the implementation of scalable HR programs, policies, and processes to support organizational growth while also maintaining legal compliance.
- Workforce Planning: Develop and execute workforce strategies that ensure the organization has the talent it needs now and in the future.
- Performance Management: Lead the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Culture Ambassador: Foster a culture of open communication, collaboration, and respect across the organization. Drive initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction, well-being, and retention, ensuring the company remains an employer of choice.
- Employee Relations: Offer expert guidance in areas like performance management, employee satisfaction, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action, collaborating with legal counsel as needed.
- Total Rewards: Create competitive compensation, benefits, and recognition programs that support employee well-being and align with market standards.
- HRIS & Payroll: Oversee systems and processes to improve HR data management and ensure accurate payroll administration.
- HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
Position Requirements:
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring the following:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Certifications: HR-related certifications like PHR, SPHR, or CCP are a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years of HR Generalist experience required.
- 5+ years in HR leadership roles directly supervising employees is required. Must have a proven ability to manage teams and drive results. Experience developing and overseeing total rewards strategies required.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills required.
- Experience with HR technology, payroll systems, and data analytics required.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational work required.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations in the US is required.
