We are seeking an experienced and driven Tax & Accounting Manager to lead a team of professionals in delivering high-quality tax and accounting services to a diverse client base. This role is responsible for overseeing departmental operations, managing a personal portfolio of clients, and supporting business development initiatives within an assigned region. Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of tax and accounting professionals to achieve performance and service excellence.
- Assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and ensure staff have the tools and authority needed to succeed.
- Facilitate continuous performance management, offer constructive feedback, and support career development.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
Sales & Client Relationship Management
- Implement and manage regional sales plans, setting individual goals and monitoring performance.
- Lead and manage large, complex client engagements while building strong client relationships.
- Promote cross-functional teaming and a proactive sales culture.
- Represent the organization at agriculture-based meetings, industry associations, and community events.
- Write and present thought leadership content to promote services and expand visibility.
Operations & Strategic Execution
- Collaborate with department leadership to drive consistency in practices, technology, and service delivery across regions.
- Communicate updates regarding policy, tax law, and best practices to ensure service excellence and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax and accounting regulations and tools.
- Provide expertise on technical questions and lead process improvement initiatives.
Portfolio & Service Delivery
- Manage a personal portfolio of tax and accounting clients.
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
- Oversee accounting deliverables such as financial statements and payroll compliance.
- Draft responses to federal and state tax authorities, including private letter rulings and client correspondence.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell Association products and services.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in public accounting or tax planning/preparation is required.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and FFSC-based financial reporting preferred.
- Experience in agricultural business or farm accounting strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns; tax research; and tax software.
